Small bin with a hinged lid, rounded body corners, a softly rounded pedal, a pillowed foot pad and a domed rod tip. The front top sweeps down in a smooth curve and the lid follows it. Each round hinge socket is carried by a support that sweeps in a long concave curve onto the flat top of the bin and in a cove into the rounded back corner.

Small desktop storage or waste bin with a lift-up lid
The lid is a separate part with a hinge shaft at its back edge, sitting in clearance holes in two round hinge sockets. The sockets are fused to the box through a bridge on the back face and a swept support on each side whose underside coves into the rounded back corner and whose top rolls tangentially onto the top surface of the bin, so the lid pivots about the X axis. A wide foot pedal sits in a recess along the underside of the box and pivots on two ears inside that recess. Pressing its front pad lifts the rear arm, which pushes the rod up through an oversized guide hole in the floor against the lid underside, swinging the lid open. A link bar pinned to the crank pin keeps the rod aligned, and a guide ring fused to the back wall keeps the rod vertical. The front face stays clear.
