Why this one
A one-way rotation lock or indexing mechanism, for example a winch, a hand crank or a tensioner.
The wheel turns on the axle pin and the pawl turns on its own pin. The pawl tip drops into a tooth gap and bears on the radial face of a tooth, so the wheel can only turn one way. The sloped ramps on the other side lift the pawl over each tooth.
