Name STL generator

3D print a name or any text: type it, pick a font, set the letter height and depth, and add a name plate if you like. Download the STL or 3MF free.

Need more than sizes?

A sign with a stand, letters for a door, a nameplate with screw holes. Describe it, and Voloom builds it from your sizes.

Describe the rest

Good to know

The letters are exact solids cut from the font's outlines, not a mesh traced from a picture, so curves stay smooth at any size. Without a base each letter is its own piece, for 3D letters on a wall or a shelf; a base makes a name plate or a sign, and the letters stay a separate part, so you can print the two in different colours. For a name you carry, the keychain generator adds the key-ring hole.

How it works

  1. 1Set the sizes and pick the options: font, base, and base shape. The name stl rebuilds when you let go of a slider.
  2. 2Turn it in the preview and check the overall size.
  3. 3Download the STL or 3MF, one file per part, and slice it.

What you can change

Letter height: 5 to 80 mm.

Depth: 1 to 30 mm.

Base thickness: 1 to 8 mm.

Base border: 1 to 15 mm.

Font: Atkinson Hyperlegible, Archivo Black, Bebas Neue, Space Mono, Zilla Slab, Stardos Stencil, Black Ops One, Pacifico, Bungee, Russo One, Righteous, Permanent Marker, or Saira Stencil One.

Base shape: Follows the letters, Rounded rectangle, or Pill.

Text: up to 40 characters.

When sizes are not enough

This is a real parametric model, built on a CAD kernel, not a mesh stretched to fit. Walls stay the thickness you set when the name stl grows.

For anything the sliders do not cover, such as ports in the right places, mounting holes, text or a logo, describe it to Voloom. It starts from these sizes and builds the part from scratch.

About STL

STL (Stereolithography). The default 3D printing format since 1987: a bare list of triangles. Every slicer reads it, but it has no units, no color, and no parts.

Units: None in the file. Slicers read the numbers as millimeters. Up axis: Z. Opens in Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Cura, OrcaSlicer, and Blender.

Questions

Is the name stl generator free?
Yes. You get 3 runs a month without an account. Sign in with your email, free, and there is no limit.
Do I need an account?
No. Change the sizes and preview as much as you like. Downloads count toward the free runs; signing in, free, removes the limit.
Can I add cutouts, holes or a logo to the name stl?
Yes. Use “Describe the rest” under the preview. Voloom takes your sizes into a prompt, you add what you need in plain words, and it builds a new parametric model you can keep editing.
Can I get a STEP file?
Yes, from the editor. Open your name stl in Voloom and download STEP on the Maker plan, for Fusion, SolidWorks or FreeCAD.
